The surface low will track north of Maine Wednesday night, drawing the warm front north of the region. Could also have a chance of afternoon snow/rain showers across northern areas, with a slight chance of afternoon rain showers Downeast. Expect increasing clouds in advance of the warm front. The Great Lakes low will track to western Quebec province Wednesday drawing a warm front toward the region. High pressure will cross the region Tuesday night with partly cloudy skies north, mostly clear/partly cloudy Downeast, while low pressure lifts across the Great Lakes. SHORT TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/. And for high temperatures on Tuesday, expect temperatures to rise into the upper 20s to around 30 across the north, and low to mid 30s Downeast. Temperatures will remain mild tonight with lows in the teens across the north and lower 20s Downeast, as northeast winds ahead of the front funnel Canadian Maritime air into the region. Outside of the shift in winds from northeast to northwest and brief period of light snow, there will be little impact from the cold front late tonight through early Tuesday morning.
Snow will taper off Tuesday morning with drier weather expected Tuesday afternoon and skies becoming partly cloudy. Largest snow accumulations will be confined to higher elevations over the western portion of our region, though highest amounts are expected to remain around one inch. A weak cold front dragging across the region will lead to light snow over most of the forecast area.
